Second Meeting in Grainger the Educator Series Highlights New GLOSS Program Developments
The Percy Grainger Society’s 2025–26 members’ meeting series, Grainger the Educator, continues on March 19 at 4:00 PM EST with an exciting discussion of new developments in the GLOSS (Grainger Library of Sampled Sounds) project. You won't want to miss this virtual meeting (via Zoom) introducing the GLOSS project's new name and website, GlossGlide!
GlossGlide is an exploratory sound project inspired by the ideas, materials, and creative ethos of Percy Grainger. It is the work of an autistic practitioner, developed through sustained individual practice and reflection. The project brings together sound, interaction, and accessibility to explore what it might mean to engage with musical materials through continuous change, attention, and play.
Join host Paul Jackson, with GlossGlide
developer Andrew Hugill, as they explore the new site, its design
philosophy, and the ways in which it it is informed by Grainger's
radical approach to music making and music composition. Follow this link for the full March 19 GLOSS update event details on the PGS website.

Artistic, creative, and innovative, Percy Grainger was very much a multifaceted artist. In addition to his work as a musician and composer, Grainger drew and painted from an early age and was a talented visual artist. This year's Annual Spring Open House on Sunday, April 19, features the new exhibit Paper, Line, Color: Percy Grainger as a Visual Artist. The exhibition seeks to showcase the range of Grainger’s work as an artist while sharing his interests, inspiration, and working process. On display, objects from the PGS collection will include childhood drawings, paintings, sheet music, and prototypes for many of his graphics, alongside samples of beadwork and embroidery that reveal Grainger’s creative range and his appreciation of folk art from cultures around the world.

Rediscovering Grainger's Organ Music

In our most recent blog post, emeritus board member Dana Paul Perna highlights the beautifully produced Schott edition of organ music by Percy Grainger. Commenting on the edition, Perna shares:
While Grainger only wrote one work for the medium, which is included within this tome, his compositions as carefully arranged for the instrument on his behalf, showcase his characteristic blend of imagination, vigor, and sensitivity to color in a manner that would certainly have pleased him.
