Lincolnshire Posy was commissioned by the American Bandmasters Association and first performed March 7, 1937, by the Milwaukee Symphonic Band. Within its compact sixteen minutes, it features six movements, each adapted from folk songs collected by Grainger during his 1905 and 1906 trip to Lincolnshire, England. Grainger intended for “each number … to be a kind of musical portrait of the singers who sang its underlying melody”, capturing both the singers’ personalities and their singing styles.

To celebrate this milestone, the Percy Grainger Society has collaborated with the American Bandmaster's Association to focus its 2022 Members Meetings on topics concerning Lincolnshire Posy, its composition, and its original folk melodies.

This event (three sessions) is free for members of the Percy Grainger Society and the American Bandmaster's Association.  Guest fee is $30.
