We are delighted to announce that pianists Łukasz and Małgorzata Wilga will be performing a piano recital at the Percy Grainger Home and Studio for the Fourth Annual Spring Open House on Sunday, April 14 at 2 p.m. This exclusive event will showcase the exceptional talent of the Wilga duo in the intimate setting of Percy Grainger’s historic home. A tour of the Percy Grainger Home & Studio follows the performance.

Each spring, the Percy Grainger Society invites the local community to visit the Percy Grainger Home and Studio at 7 Cromwell Place. From the music room to the bedrooms and beyond, the house quietly illustrates how each Grainger family member made this space an echo of their individual interests and unique personalities. The house, built in the late 1800s, is a beloved White Plains landmark and a graceful reminder of White Plains neighborhoods from days gone by.

Łukasz and Małgorzata Wilga, both long-time Grainger aficionados, are looking forward to performing at Percy Grainger’s house. Łukasz expresses his excitement, saying: “It is a dream come true to play at the Percy Grainger Home and Studio. Grainger’s music has always inspired me, and I am humbled to be able to share my interpretation of his works in such a historic setting.” Małgorzata added: “Playing at the Percy Grainger Home and Studio is a tremendous honor. Grainger’s music has a unique charm, and I am thrilled to bring his compositions to life. We hope to create a captivating musical experience for our guests.”

The program for the recital will feature a selection of Grainger’s masterpieces, showcasing the duo’s exceptional skill and artistry. Łukasz will perform “Klavierstuck in D”, “English Waltz”, “My Robin is to the Greenwood Gone”, and the enchanting paraphrase on Tchaikovsky’s “Flower Waltz”. Małgorzata will entertain the audience with her renditions of “Klavierstuck in E”, “Now, O Now, I Needs Must Part”, and Grainger’s beautiful adaptation of Strauss’s “Der Rosenkavalier”. The duo will also join forces for a performance of Edvard Grieg’s “Four Norwegian Dances”.

“We are delighted to welcome the Wilgas to the Percy Grainger Home and Studio for our annual Open House,” noted Dr. Paul Jackson, President of the Percy Grainger Society. “While distance keeps me from attending in person (Dr. Jackson resides in Cambridge, England), I am there in spirit, and I am absolutely certain the audience will enjoy this recital.” Following the recital, attendees will have the opportunity to embark on a fascinating house tour, delving into the life and legacy of Percy Grainger, the celebrated composer and pianist.

While the event is free and open to the public, space limitations require registration. Register here.
